Connect BlazeSQL to your Slack workspace so your team can ask data questions directly from Slack — no need to switch tools or leave conversations.
Getting Started
A workspace admin connects Slack from Workspace Settings → Integrations → Slack. Once connected, anyone in the Slack workspace can interact with Blaze.
To start using Blaze in a channel, simply add Blaze to that channel — for example, by @mentioning @Blaze in a message. From there, anyone in the channel can tag Blaze to ask questions.
How to Use
Tag Blaze in a Channel
Mention @Blaze followed by your question in any channel Blaze has been added to.
New thread: Tag Blaze in a message to start a new conversation.
Existing thread: Tag Blaze inside a thread and it will have full context of the entire thread, so it understands what's already been discussed.
Direct Messages
You can also message the Blaze app directly for private, 1-on-1 conversations. Open the Blaze app in Slack and send a message — just like chatting with a colleague.
Access Controls
Restrict to BlazeSQL Users
By default, any member of your Slack workspace can interact with Blaze. If you want to limit this, enable "Only reply to BlazeSQL users" in Workspace Settings → Integrations. When turned on, Blaze will only respond to Slack users whose email matches a BlazeSQL account.
Access Groups
You can control which databases, tables, and columns Blaze can access when responding to Slack messages. In Workspace Settings → Access Groups, configure the Slack integration access group to restrict what data is queryable through Slack. This lets you expose Blaze to your full team without worrying about sensitive tables or columns being accessible.
Agent Reports
You can deliver scheduled Agent Reports directly to Slack channels or as a DM. For full details on setting up and configuring Agent Reports, see Agent Reports.
