What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude connect directly to external tools and data sources. With BlazeSQL's MCP integration, you can query your databases using natural language right inside Claude — no need to switch between apps.
How It Works
Claude uses BlazeSQL’s MCP tools to inspect the database structure you have access to, write a read-only SQL query, and run it against your selected database. The result appears in Claude with a data table and the generated SQL. Claude then explains the findings and can create an interactive graph when you ask for one.
User Management & Authentication
All users who try to use BlazeSQL via Claude will be asked to log in to their BlazeSQL account. They must already have an account at BlazeSQL.com/app.
Setting Up BlazeSQL in Claude
A Blaze Team Advanced or Blaze Enterprise subscription
A BlazeSQL account with at least one connected database
Step 1: Open Connectors in Claude
Go to claude.ai, click the Customize icon in the sidebar, then select Connectors. Click the + button and choose Add custom connector.
Step 2: Add BlazeSQL as a custom connector
Enter BlazeSQL as the name and the following URL:
Click Add to connect. You'll be prompted to log in to your BlazeSQL account.
Step 3: Ask data questions in Claude!
Once connected, simply ask Claude a question about your data. Claude will inspect the relevant database structure, generate and run a read-only SQL query through BlazeSQL, and explain the results. You can also ask Claude to create an interactive graph, use an existing saved query, or inspect a BlazeSQL dashboard.
